Nálam itt most leállt a fúzió...
Íme a levél:
"Dear friends,
We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well during these turbulent times. Thank you so much for your continued love and support throughout the years. We wouldn’t be here without you.
As scientists, researchers, educators, and human beings we have a responsibility to respond, to empathize and to acknowledge our different human experiences and reactions to troubling events. That means rejecting racism and inequality and embracing our entire community. We condemn discrimination and harassment in any form, and are actively working to promote the ideals and principles outlined in our Ethics policy. Our Event Conduct policy gives process to our vision and purpose for representing the best that our science can be.
Broadening the AAVSO’s reach to under-represented communities is one of the elements of our Strategic Plan. It will require both immediate and long-term efforts while humbly acknowledging that the AAVSO citizen science community remains one of the least diverse disciplines in the sciences. In the weeks and months ahead, the AAVSO leadership will be furthering our efforts toward building a more diverse, respectful, and inclusive space for all astronomy enthusiasts and citizen scientists to thrive. We ask you to join us and to challenge us to make a real difference.
We’re hopeful that this moment is a lasting catalyst for a world permanently filled with more love, compassion and equality for everybody. As Carl Sagan reminded us, we are all made of the very same star dust.
Sincerely,
Gordon Myers, AAVSO President
Stella Kafka, AAVSO Executive Director
and the AAVSO Board"
